Heading up Agra Pro Vision:
Meet Dr Fiona Anderson

Dr Fiona Anderson is steering agricultural training and development in Namibia through a focus on practical skills, sustainability and measurable impact.

As head of Agra Pro Vision, she leads the strategic direction of programmes aimed at equipping young people, farm workers and farmers with technical and practical expertise, while also strengthening agribusiness capacity across the sector.

Her work includes curriculum development, stakeholder engagement and partnership building to ensure training remains relevant to industry needs. “Agriculture provides a unique space where education and practical application intersect in a tangible way,” she says, highlighting the importance of bridging the gap between knowledge and real-world implementation.

Under her leadership, Agra Pro Vision has expanded initiatives focused on youth skills development and women’s empowerment, which she describes as critical in a traditionally male-dominated sector. “Seeing individuals gain confidence, secure employment, or start their own ventures reinforces the value of investing in people,” she says.

Leadership style

Anderson describes her leadership style as collaborative and purpose-driven, focused on empowering teams and encouraging innovation. She attributes the organisation’s impact to its people, from agricultural experts to learning support teams, working together to deliver results.

Despite challenges such as limited resources amid growing demand, she says she remains solution-oriented by building strong partnerships across the public and private sectors. Adaptability and resilience, she adds, are essential in an evolving industry.

Looking ahead, she believes agriculture in Namibia will be increasingly shaped by sustainability, climate resilience and innovation, with skills development playing a central role in long-term success. “Innovation is central to our growth; it ensures our programmes remain relevant and impactful.”

She measures success not only through outcomes but also through long-term changes in people’s lives. Guided by the principle, “She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future,” she leads with confidence and optimism.

Her advice to aspiring leaders? “Believe in your capability, and be willing to step into spaces where you may feel underrepresented.”
