General Purpose and Scope of Position
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Major Responsibilities- Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develops and maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
- Shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students.
- Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner and complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
- Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
- All responsibilities conducted within FERPA, other regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Possesses a current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license.
- The majority of faculty shall hold master’s degrees in nursing.
- Candidates must upload credentialing documents such as transcripts, licenses, certifications, etc. in order to be considered.
- For faculty with Bachelor’s degrees in nursing:
- Within one semester of initial appointment, must have a written academic plan of study for completion of a Master’s degree in nursing.
- Provides ongoing documentation (each semester) demonstrating matriculation toward completion of a Master’s degree in nursing.
- Continued employment of a person who does not hold a Master’s degree in nursing shall be contingent upon documented progress toward their approved academic plan.
- Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including a criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
