DescriptionPosition Overview
The Nicholson Library at Anderson University is seeking a dedicated Patron Service Coordinator to lead our front-line hospitality and access services. This professional staff position plays a vital role in creating a welcoming library environment by supervising and mentoring student employees, managing circulation operations, coordinating resource sharing, and maintaining specialized services like large-format printing.
Principal Responsibilities- Student Leadership & Mentorship:
Recruit, hire, train, coach, and supervise a team of student workers, fostering a service-oriented environment. (30%) - Circulation & Access Services:
Plan, organize, and oversee library circulation, course reserves, stacks maintenance, and general patron support services. (15%) - Resource Sharing:
Manage and execute day-to-day operations for Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and consortial resource-sharing initiatives. (10%) - Specialized Print Services:
Maintain large-format printing equipment, handle print jobs, and ensure adequate supplies are stocked. (10%) - Outreach & Engagement:
Lead student-facing outreach efforts, including curating featured collections, designing thematic book displays, and supporting library events and promotions. (10%) - Financial & Administrative Support:
Assist with billing for lost or damaged library materials and process departmental charge-backs for print services. (5%) - Data & Assessment:
Compile, analyze, and report operational statistics and access data to support departmental strategic goals. (5%) - Consortial
Collaboration:
Participate in Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) initiatives related to access services and broader library goals. (10%) - Other Duties as Assigned:
Collaborate with library staff on general projects, organizational improvements, and campus promotions. (5%)
Qualifications
Education- Required:
Bachelor's degree. - Preferred:
Undergraduate degree in the Humanities, Education, Business, Theology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Required:
- Experience working in a professional or office setting.
- Demonstrated leadership or employee supervision experience.
- Preferred:
- 1–2 years of experience in a library, customer service, or staff management role.
- Working knowledge of Web Programming Languages, including, HTML, CSS, and Java script
- Experience with Interlibrary Loan fulfillment, electronic resource management, or public services.
