Senior CAD Designer

Job Purpose

PHINIA is seeking a dynamic Senior CAD Designer to support our Starter and Alternator business. The position will develop 3D models and design documentation for starter and alternator products and sub‑components under minimal supervision. Stack‑up analysis is a critical component of the role. The CAD design team is small, so the designer must be capable of creating design data and checking their own and others’ work.

• Develop accurate, complex design models and print documentation for components, sub‑assemblies, and complete products.
• Provide critical dimension and tolerance information for the designs to engineering.
• Work as both designer and checker for detail drawings and layouts.
• Perform CAD transfers when required.
• Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) information to designs.
• Maintain an organized, structured work style with attention to detail.
• Work independently in a hands‑on manner and collaborate with multiple engineers.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
• Mature PC knowledge and experience are required.
• Be self‑motivated to take on work necessary for the program and see it to completion.
• Use creative intellect to solve problems and conceptualize new designs.
• Work with engineering direction to create solutions, identify problems, and offer solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts to non‑technical personnel.

• Associate degree with a design focus.
• At least 5 years of design experience with Creo and/or NX CAD software.
• Starter and alternator product CAD experience preferred.
• Experience with Team Center PLM.
• Strong analytical, statistical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
