Swing Shift Mutuel Clerk - Part Time (Harrah's Hoosier Park)
Location:
Anderson, IN, United States (On‑site)
Provides excellent service to customers who place bets in race wagering as well as Sports Book operations. Ensures that all customers understand the various types of wagers, displays patience with novice customers, engages in friendly conversations with all customers, and processes all cash transactions quickly and accurately.
Key Job Functions- Greets customers; inputs betting information into computer; prints ticket; accepts money and gives ticket and change to customers.
- Accurately maintains bank.
- Verifies winning tickets.
- Handles and resolves any concerns and questions by customers.
- Explains wagering information when needed.
- Maintains and updates betting boards or televisions for customers to view.
- Understands pari‑mutuel wagering including reading tickets sold, tote keyboard and basic racing terminology.
- Provides customers with lists of scratches for tracks or results for races.
- Cash/sells vouchers.
- Meets attendance guidelines and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Cash or cancel tickets as necessary.
- Performs duties as assigned of a Mutuel Teller and Sports book Writer.
High School diploma required. At least 6 months previous cash handling experience required.
Qualifications- Sports enthusiast with interest in horse racing and sports activities.
- Mathematically inclined; able to pass a math test.
- Demonstrated good handwriting skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work any day and any shift.
- Team‑player; can work with co‑workers and independently.
- Well‑groomed appearance.
- Fast‑paced, deadline driven, able to coordinate multiple projects, prioritize and flex to accommodate last‑minute requests and changes.
- Responds calmly and makes rational decisions when handling guest and employee conflicts.
Social
Skills and Experience:
Outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic attitude; comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment with guests.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must qualify for, obtain, and maintain a gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission. Must qualify for, obtain, and maintain a license from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
Physical Demands- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods (minimum 4‑6 hours).
- Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and between floors via stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalators.
- Responds to visual and aural cues.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
- Tolerates areas containing second‑hand smoke, dust, loud noises, and bright lights.
- Works varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
Requires access to the gaming floor.
