Description:

Medical ICU is a 20 bed mixed ICU/Step Down unit. We have a combination of ICU 2:1 and Stepdowns are 3:1. We also require floating to our sister unit 5S to take SD 1:3 or progressive level patients at a 4:1.  Unit

Description:

Patient population includes:
Severe respiratory failure (e.g., pneumonia, ARDS, COPD or asthma exacerbations) often requiring mechanical ventilation or high-flow oxygen support, Sepsis and septic shock, frequently requiring vasopressors, invasive monitoring, and aggressive fluid management, Hemodynamic instability, including hypotension, arrhythmias, or shock state, Neurologic conditions such as altered mental status, metabolic encephalopathy, overdose, or stroke (non-surgical), Complex metabolic and endocrine disorders, such as diabetic keto acidosis, severe electrolyte abnormalities, or liver failure, Cardiac conditions not requiring immediate intervention, including heart failure exacerbations, cardiomyopathy, or post cardiac arrest care, Gastrointestinal and hepatic failure, including GI bleeding, acute liver failure, or pancreatitis.
