The Campus Store Team Lead (Mail Specialist) plays an important role in supporting daily store operations while serving as a key resource for campus mail and package services. This position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining store organization and inventory, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of mail and packages across campus. As a Team Lead, the role requires a strong sense of ownership, reliability, pride in serving both the store team and the campus community, and a commitment to executing tasks with accuracy and consistency.
TeamMember Responsibilities
- Engage and support students, parents, staff, and faculty to promote sales, solve problems, and build positive relationships
- Receive, sort, and track mail and parcels using the Slingshot mail platform
- Deliver mail and packages across campus, with or without the use of a vehicle
- Provide customer service in all areas of the store, including point‑of‑sale transactions, handling cash and credit card payments, and answering phone calls (including voicemails and returned calls)
- Assist with online order fulfillment, shipping, and in‑store sales support
- Support receiving processes for textbooks, general merchandise, and print production (when applicable)
- Fulfill textbook orders and prepare shipments for delivery
- Complete general clerical tasks, including filing, basic document creation, spreadsheets, and communication with students via email
- Maintain store organization, stock levels, and overall appearance
- Support store operations and step into additional roles as needed
- Support the Store Manager with daily operations and team coordination
- Serve as a point of leadership in the store and step in during the Store Manager’s absence
- Ensure processes are followed consistently while identifying opportunities for improvement
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, accountability, and commitment to team success
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carry heavy loads, and perform physical tasks such as bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods of time
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in retail or customer service preferred
- Strong communication skills, able to interact respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and general customers
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
- Detail‑oriented, organized, with the ability to self‑start and work independently
