BHT's will provide direct care for all clients in our residential and detox programs. Under the immediate supervision of the Behavior Health Technician Manager, BHT's are responsible for monitoring, observing, and reporting client activities while providing structure and support. To be successful in this role, employees must be upbeat, positive, energetic, and outgoing, while having the ability to multi-task, take initiative and think ahead.
Behavioral Health Technicians need to be able to handle client complaints and problem solve while keeping a professional and positive attitude.
Provide the highest possible quality of care for patients struggling with alcohol and substance abuse recovery
Follow and enforce all program rules
Must be comfortable working closely with people with addiction and mental health disorders
Must have the ability to work closely with staff members across all departments
Perform client rounds and document any observed or communicated behaviors
BHT is responsible for reading shift notes at the beginning of their shift and completing shift notes before the end of their shift
Maintain appropriate boundaries, ethical and moral standards, and confidentiality with all clients
BHT transports patients to appointments, labs, activities, and community or special events, etc.
Attend and participate in any required staff meetings and training
Conduct new client admissions when the Admissions Department is not available
Have the ability to multi-task, work in a fast paced and changing environment
Maintain a visible presence on the floor
Knowledge of substance abuse/addiction issues or related work experience
Participate in staff, treatment team, and leadership team meetings as appropriate
Maintain clean, orderly, and sanitary conditions throughout the facilities. (i.e., trash collection, etc.)

Job RequirementsHigh school diploma, GED
An ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and utilize effective communication skills, including both telephone and in-person
Scheduling flexibility, holiday, and weekend rotation is REQUIRED.
Must hold valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Positive demeanor and clear understanding of professional boundaries with clients
Knowledge of addiction/mental health disorders preferred
Ability to follow directives while adhering to facility policies with seamless implementation.
Time management skills, team approach, and basic computer skills.
Valid Driver’s license
Proof of insurance
CPR or BLS certification (must be completed within 60 days of hire)
Physical RequirementsMobility
- Twist, Bend, Stoop/squat, move quickly (respond to emergency), Climb stairs, Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces. Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
Visual
- See information up to 24 inches away (monitors, computer screens, skin conditions), See objects up to 20 feet away (patient in room), Use depth perception, Use of peripheral vision. Use of peripheral vision and visually inspects sites to detect safety concerns.
Strength – The ability to frequently move/lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to use a fire extinguisher, requiring hand strength to squeeze and control the device.
Work Environment – Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.

- Reach above shoulders/overhead, reach below the waist (electrical plugs, etc.), Reach in front (assist patient with arms out), Pick up objects with hands, Write with pen, Use computer (type), Pinch/pick or otherwise work with fingers (use keyboard, etc.), Twist at waist, Twist wrists/hands (turn objects/knobs using hands).
Focus/Process Adherence Must be able to adhere to process protocols. Maintain focus on tasks in a busy environment.
