Job Description & How to Apply Below

If you've spent your career in construction accounting, you know this role is about much more than closing the books.

It's about managing cash flow, staying ahead of draws, understanding job profitability, and helping leadership make good business decisions before problems show up on a financial statement.

We're partnering with an established custom home builder in the Greenville market that is looking for a Controller to become a key member of its leadership team. This person will oversee the financial side of the business while working closely with operations and ownership to monitor project performance, maintain strong cash flow, and support the continued success of the company.

This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys construction. Someone who understands how projects are funded, how jobs make money, where margins can slip, and why strong financial leadership matters in a project-driven business.

The company has built a reputation for being organized, disciplined, and process-oriented. You'll be joining a team that values accountability, communication, and people who take ownership of their responsibilities. With a relatively small employee base, every person on the team has visibility and impact. There are no layers of corporate bureaucracy and no getting lost in the shuffle. Your work will be seen, valued, and relied upon.

The Controller is responsible for the company's overall accounting and financial management, including financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, construction draws, job costing, project profitability analysis, budgeting, and month-end close. They will oversee the Accounts Payable and Office Administration functions while serving as a resource and business partner to leadership.

The person who will thrive in this role is not someone who simply reports the numbers. They're the person who notices when a job's gross margin is trending in the wrong direction, asks why, gathers the right people, and helps find a solution. They stay ahead of cash flow needs, keep draws moving, follow through on commitments, and understand how financial decisions impact the business as a whole.

Construction accounting experience is required. Candidates should have experience with job costing, project accounting, cash flow management, draw administration, financial statement preparation, and working within a construction or project-based environment.

Just as important, we're looking for someone with strong business judgment, excellent organizational skills, and a track record of stability. This is a long-term opportunity with a company that values commitment, consistency, and people who genuinely care about the success of the business.

If you're looking for a seat at the table rather than a seat in the back office, we'd welcome a conversation.
