We are partnering with a well-established, relationship-driven CPA firm in Greenville that is looking to add an experienced Tax Manager to its team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys public accounting but is looking for a smaller, collaborative environment where they can develop meaningful client relationships, work closely with firm leadership, and have an impact beyond traditional tax compliance.
EssentialDuties & Functions
- Manage tax engagements for a portfolio of privately held businesses, pass-through entities, and individual clients.
- Review federal and state tax returns with a focus on S corporations, partnerships/pass-through entities, and individual (1040) returns
, along with some estate and trust work. - Work directly with clients on year-round tax planning, compliance, and advisory needs.
- Develop a strong understanding of clients' businesses and financial goals to identify proactive tax planning opportunities.
- Research and resolve complex tax matters and communicate recommendations clearly to clients.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact and build long-term relationships with clients beyond annual compliance work.
- Manage engagement timelines, workflow, and priorities across multiple client engagements.
- Review the work of associates and senior-level professionals and provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance.
- Partner closely with firm leadership on client strategy, technical matters, and opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
- Support the continued development and growth of the firm's tax practice.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
- Active CPA license required.
- 5+ years of progressive tax experience within public accounting preferred.
- Strong experience with S corporations, pass-through entities, and individual taxation.
- Experience reviewing tax returns and managing engagements from planning through completion.
- Exposure to estate and trust taxation is a plus.
- Experience serving privately held businesses across industries such as manufacturing, construction, and professional services is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of federal and state taxation and the ability to identify proactive planning opportunities.
- Strong client relationship, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience coaching and developing junior team members.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and competing priorities.
