Accounting Manager - Hybrid

A well-established, growing professional services company based in Greenville, SC. The company supports multi-entity operations and is expanding into new service lines, and leadership is investing in the people, processes, and systems needed to scale the business without simply adding headcount.

The Accounting Manager leads the Accounts Payable and General Ledger functions. The role oversees a team of 6 (senior and staff accountants on GL, plus an AP team) and owns the accuracy and timeliness of transactions, the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, reconciliations, and GAAP compliance. It stays partly hands-on, with the goal of shifting toward a balance of half hands-on work and half leadership.

This is a hybrid role based in Greenville, SC.

Leadership wants someone who will coach and develop the team, lead process improvement, and partner across operations, HR, payroll, and revenue cycle. The company is growing, so there is real room to build and to shape how the accounting function scales.

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of GL and AP accountants through training, goal setting, and performance management
• Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across the AP and GL functions
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
• Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled timely and reconciling items are resolved
• Handle hands-on entries, including revenue and bad debt recording
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide recommendations to leadership
• Oversee vendor setup, invoice processing, payment execution, and employee expense reimbursement
• Ensure compliance with IRS reporting requirements, including annual 1099 preparation
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, segregation of duties, and accounting policies and procedures
• Coordinate internal and external audits and serve as a primary contact for audit requests
• Drive process improvement and automation, and support adoption of new accounting systems and tools
• Partner with operations, HR, payroll, revenue cycle, and IT to improve processes and support growth initiatives

• Progressive accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Experience leading accounting staff, including coaching, delegation, performance management, and work review
• Strong knowledge of AP, GL, close, reconciliations, financial reporting, internal controls, and GAAP
• Tech-savvy and comfortable working in accounting systems and report writing
• A coaching leadership style with the ability to lead change and build team buy-in
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a high degree of accuracy
• CPA or Master's in Accounting or Business Administration is a plus
• Cloud-based ERP experience is a plus
• Multi-entity accounting experience is a plus
• Professional services experience is a plus
