Position: Academic Interventionist (Certified Teacher)

Academic Interventionist (Certified Teacher) Title I

Location:

McLees Elementary School

School Year:

Terms of Employment: 190 days (if employed for full contract calendar). Salary to be determined by the salary schedule established by the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
  • Valid South Carolina teaching certificate in Early Childhood, Elementary, or comparable area
  • Meets Highly Qualified requirements as defined by the ESEA legislation preferred
  • Documented successful teaching experience; instructional leadership, preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of technology
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Strong instructional skills inclusive of oral and written communication

Principal

Job Goal:

To provide strategies for teaching and supporting students in math and/or ELA skills.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates the school's intervention program.
  • Collaborates with teachers individually to identify the needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in mathematics.
  • Co-Teach and/or provide supplemental instruction.
  • Assists teachers with the collection of data, analysis of data results and supports the sharing of findings with staff/administration.
  • Reviews student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
  • Teaches targeted intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources.
  • Assists students using software and materials related to programs.
  • Meets regularly with the classroom teachers/and or administration to plan math instruction that correlates with the individual student's needs or as requested by the classroom teacher.
  • Attends professional development to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content, especially math and language arts literacy.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and up-to-date management records of all students' progress.
  • Maintains confidentiality concerning student records.
  • Attends professional development sessions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities related to teaching as assigned by supervisor.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; knowledge of general office procedures and protocols; skills and ability to work with educational technology such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Outlook; ability to operate basic office equipment; ability to maintain a professional, positive attitude with students, parents, and staff; good organizational and planning skills; knowledge and ability to understand and communicate effectively with students of various ages;

    ability to maintain accurate records; ability to maintain confidentiality.
