Quality Engineering, Test Engineer
Mojave is changing the physics of air conditioning. Air conditioning consumes ~9% of total global electricity production and results in the emissions of 1 billion tons of carbon dioxide annually. It is time for a change, and Mojave’s liquid desiccant air conditioning systems are doing just that. If you want to change the world, starting with the world of air conditioning, then you may belong are looking for purpose-driven team members who enjoy problem solving, teamwork, and personal growth to join our venture-backed company.
ABOUTTHE OPPORTUNITY
Mojave Energy Systems is seeking an experienced HVAC Test & Diagnostic Leadwith experience in HVAC or a similar field to own the execution, interpretation, and continuous improvement of the end-of-line testing process for our liquid desiccant air conditioning systems. Reporting to the Director of Quality, this role will be responsible for ensuring each production unit is tested completely, evaluated correctly, and dispositioned appropriately before shipment.
This role is more than checklist execution. The successful candidate will interpret test results, system trends, and performance data to determine whether a unit is ready to ship, requires adjustment, or needs escalation to engineering, manufacturing, or quality. They will work hands‑on with HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, controls, airflow, pump, heater, sensor, and desiccant‑related systems to help Mojave understand what needs to be fixed and whether each unit meets customer specification requirements — recognizing abnormal performance trends before they become customer issues.
This is a critical role in Mojave’s production scale‑up, ensuring that units are not only completed, but genuinely ready to perform in the field.
This is an on‑site position in Anderson, SC.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Own and execute the full end‑of‑line test process for Mojave production units, including electrical checks, controls verification, sensor validation, airflow checks, pump operation, emitter function, heater performance, leak checks, carryover checks, desiccant charge verification, refrigeration system checks, full‑system operation, and pre‑ship verification.
- Interpret system performance data to determine whether a unit meets Mojave requirements and customer specification sheets.
- Monitor and evaluate trends related to temperature, humidity, dew point, airflow, refrigerant pressures, compressor operation, EEV position, fan speed, pump operation, heater performance, and desiccant system behavior to identify abnormal results, borderline performance, unstable trends, sensor issues, controls issues, and potential system‑level failures.
- Determine whether tested units are ready to ship, require adjustment, require repair, require retest, or require escalation.
- Troubleshoot failing or underperforming units across refrigeration, electrical, controls, airflow, pump, heater, desiccant, and sensor‑related systems in coordination with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and service teams.
- Maintain test discipline and ensure incomplete, questionable, or abnormal results are not accepted without proper technical review.
- Document measured results, adjustments, retest activity, corrective actions, and final disposition clearly and accurately, maintaining all test records, logs, screenshots, and supporting notes in organized, shareable locations.
- Provide feedback to engineering and quality on unclear pass/fail criteria, missing test steps, and recurring failure modes, and help develop improved diagnostic thresholds, control limits, trend review expectations, and escalation criteria as Mojave scales production.
- Train and support other technicians or production personnel in proper EOL test execution and documentation.
- Support root cause investigations related to EOL failures, field performance issues, customer complaints, and repeated production defects.
- Assist engineering with validation of revised test methods, updated checklist requirements, new component configurations, and product design changes, including development of standard work for test setup, execution, troubleshooting, and final unit release.
- Identify opportunities to improve test…
