The Wastewater Operator performs routine checks of water and/or wastewater treatment systems; is responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules/regulations. Assist in all areas of operations, maintenance, and customer service as needed for all facility systems within the company. Certifications required for the job must be obtained within the specified period of time.
Essential Functions Statement(s)- Operate and maintain the water/wastewater treatment facilities as required by city, state, and federal guidelines.
- Perform daily analyses of effluent samples; make necessary adjustments to keep facility within permit limits and comply with state and federal water quality standards.
- Adjust chemical treatment to ensure water quality standards are met.
- Assist with water and wastewater line repairs, new line installation, and other work as directed.
- Inspect and maintain pumps, motors, valves, and other plant equipment in working order, troubleshooting problems as they arise.
- Respond to and investigate customer service calls; complete work orders, update records, and maintain documentation in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform routine tests on water treatment facilities, including process, chemicals, pumps, motors, and water quality sampling; collect and analyze gauge and meter readings.
- Conduct routine testing, monitoring, and maintenance of production wells, unit processes, and basic laboratory analyses.
- Perform and document treatment process and maintenance of treatment facility equipment.
- Document plant performance, including daily flow, well meter readings, and chemical dosage and usage.

Field-Based Role
Work ExperienceThree to Five years of directly related experience in water and wastewater treatment/operations.
License:
Class A or B Certification in Biological Wastewater, Water Treatment, and Distribution issued by the state.
