Job Description

Pay Range: $54.15hr - $59.15hr

• The Client/Linux Administrator will manage and support Client infrastructure deployed within a Linux cluster environment.
• This role requires hands‑on expertise in Client administration, Linux system management, scripting, and secure handling of Controlled Unclassified Information.
• The ideal candidate will serve as a technical subject matter expert, support system upgrades, and ensure operational stability of Client and Linux platforms.

• Manage daily Client operational systems including cluster and management console administration.
• Perform Linux system administration tasks including configuration and maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and serve as a technical subject matter expert.
• Contribute to research and development initiatives as required.
• Train and mentor less experienced systems programmers and administrators.

• Administer Client deployed in a Linux cluster environment.
• Monitor daily system health and verify Client services are running properly.
• Create and manage new indexes and source types.
• Add new servers and log sources into Client.
• Monitor and verify daily license usage and counts.
• Develop dashboards and train users on dashboard creation and advanced searching techniques.
• Utilize Client Management Console and associated applications.
• Troubleshoot Client issues and coordinate with Client support when required.
• Identify architecture deficiencies and implement improvements when appropriate.
• Perform Client Enterprise and Universal Forwarder upgrades.

• Configure and manage Linux file systems including NFS.
• Implement and maintain application file permissions.
• Utilize version control tools including Git and Bitbucket.
• Utilize configuration management tools including Salt Stack and Ansible.
• Support log collection troubleshooting for both Linux and Windows systems.

• Assist Windows and Linux administrators with installation and configuration of Client Universal Forwarder clients.
• Verify log ingestion and troubleshoot client‑side logging issues.
• Provide advanced log search guidance and technical assistance to administrators.

• Minimum five years of experience in Client Administration.
• Minimum five years of experience in Linux Administration.
• Minimum five years of experience with Bash scripting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in Client architecture and cluster environments.

• Experience working in a VDI environment.

• Associate degree or equivalent work experience.

• Client Certification required.

• Ability to meet all Controlled Unclassified Information requirements.
• Access, process, store, or transmit regulated research data only within approved work spaces defined by the Technology Control Plan.
• Use Granite Secure VDI to access or process regulated research data from approved work locations.
• Ensure computer screens are not visible to unauthorized individuals and lock systems when unattended.

• Associate degree or equivalent experience with required Client Certification and relevant technical expertise.
