We're partnering with a fast-growing industrial automation manufacturer in the Greenville, SC area to find a Senior Buyer to help run procurement for a global, hands-on supply chain. The company is scaling quickly with real room to grow into a bigger role as the team expands. You'll work directly with the Director of Supply Chain, handling day-to-day buying with real input on where the supply base goes next.
WhatYou'll Do
- Manage purchasing across a portfolio of 400+ active part numbers, balancing high-volume transactional buys with more strategic, engineered components
- Source and purchase components and materials from a mix of domestic and international suppliers, including active sourcing relationships in China
- Identify, vet, and onboard new suppliers to strengthen and diversify the existing supply base
- Negotiate contract terms with suppliers beyond standard purchase orders, including payment terms, delivery schedules, and pricing
- Manage vendor performance and resolve quality, delivery, or service issues as they come up
- Support make-versus-buy evaluations, weighing in-house production against outsourcing options
- Track and manage purchasing activity inside an ERP system, contributing to inventory and planning processes
- Partner with the Director of Supply Chain on sourcing strategy and supplier diversification, contributing to the plan rather than owning it solo
- Factor tariffs, duties, and international shipping considerations into sourcing decisions
- Build or contribute to tools and dashboards that improve visibility into purchasing and supply chain data
- 6+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a bill-of-materials-based manufacturing environment; 10+ years preferred
- Experience sourcing internationally, ideally including direct experience with China, Japan, Germany, etc.
- Vendor management and contract negotiation experience that goes beyond routine purchase-order processing
- Experience with SAP or a comparable large ERP system
- Familiarity with inventory and planning KPIs such as Days Inventory Outstanding a plus
- Strong Excel skills; exposure to Python, Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization and scripting tools a plus
The company is in the middle of a substantial growth curve, doubling its production output and building out its supply chain function to match. This is a rapidly scaling, collaborative team where individual contributions are visible, and there's a genuine path to grow into a larger role as the group continues its growth. Culture is fun, forward-thinking, and family-first, with a flexible PTO philosophy and a collaborative, startup-style environment.
