Position Summary:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting Sixin Chemical Company’s commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible manufacturing operation. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements while promoting a proactive safety culture across all production, warehouse, laboratory, and administrative areas.

The EHS Specialist works closely with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to implement safety initiatives aligned with Sixin’s operational standards and global manufacturing expectations.

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, SCDHEC, and applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations
  • Maintain safety records including:
  • OSHA logs
  • Support preparation for regulatory inspections and corporate compliance reviews
  • Maintain chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management system
  • Assist with environmental permit tracking and reporting requirements
Manufacturing Safety Program Support
  • Implement Sixin safety policies across production and warehouse operations
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of:
  • Production floor
  • Chemical storage areas
  • Warehouse operations
  • Maintenance activities
  • Support Lockout/Tagout program compliance
  • Assist supervisors with Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
  • Lead or support workplace incident investigations
  • Perform root cause analysis
  • Track corrective actions through completion
  • Maintain near-miss reporting program
  • Identify trends and recommend preventive improvements
  • Support hazardous waste handling compliance
  • Monitor proper labeling, storage, and disposal procedures
  • Assist with air, wastewater, and chemical reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with approved environmental vendors as needed
  • Maintain documentation supporting EPA and state reporting obligations
Training & Safety Culture Development
  • Conduct employee safety training including:
  • New hire safety orientation
  • PPE requirements
  • Emergency response procedures
  • Support supervisors with departmental safety coaching
  • Reinforce Sixin’s expectation of a safe and respectful production environment
  • Promote employee participation in safety initiatives
Emergency Preparedness & Response
  • Maintain emergency response procedures and evacuation plans
  • Support fire protection program compliance
  • Serve as a safety resource during emergency response situations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with:
  • Production leadership
  • Maintenance teams
  • Warehouse personnel
  • Quality department
  • HR and administrative staff
  • Support communication between local operations and corporate leadership regarding safety expectations and compliance initiatives
Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s degree preferred in:

  • Occupational Safety
  • Chemical or Manufacturing-related field
Experience
  • 5 - 7 years EHS experience in chemical or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of OSHA compliance programs required
  • Experience supporting environmental compliance reporting strongly preferred
  • Experience working in multi-cultural manufacturing environments is a plus
