iTrust Wellness, LLC is looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at our Anderson location to provide medication management services through a hybrid in-office and telepsychiatry model. We have expanded our practice throughout the Upstate and are looking for a practitioner who is interested in utilizing the latest research, technology, and practice guidelines to achieve and maintain wellness for our clientele.
An ideal candidate has an excellent knowledge of pharmacology, a desire for continued educational opportunities, a passion for choosing the most appropriate medication for clients, and confidence in creating evidence-based treatment plans through a scientific and collaborative approach. Experienced or newer prescribers are welcome to apply to this position.
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, assessing both mental and physical status based on presenting symptoms and complaints.
- Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions, differentiating between physiological and psychological factors to ensure accurate treatment planning.
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans that integrate psychotropic medications, psychotherapeutic techniques, and holistic wellness principles.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
- Monitor treatment effectiveness, adjust medication regimens as needed, and educate patients on medication adherence, side effects, and wellness strategies.
- Utilize appropriate psychotherapeutic interventions as complementary approaches to medication management, promoting overall well‑being.
- Educate patients and family members about mental health and medical conditions, preventive health measures, medications, and treatment plans.
- Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies and crises, facilitating appropriate transitions to emergency care or inpatient facilities when needed.
- Schedule follow‑up appointments based on medication efficacy timelines and company policies, ensuring continuity of care.
- Thoroughly document patients’ medical and psychological histories, physical assessment results, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes, closing notes within 72 hours.
- Select and bill the correct procedural and diagnostic codes (CPT, ICD‑10) based on appointment complexity and payer requirements (insurance vs. self‑pay).
- Adhere strictly to state and federal laws, HIPAA guidelines, and company policies regarding patient privacy and controlled substance prescribing.
- Adhere strictly to CMS guidelines regarding billing and coding, operating compliantly to avoid fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with licensure and board certification requirements, including timely re‑certification.
- Participate in chart reviews, peer collaboration, and quality assurance initiatives to uphold best practices and improve patient outcomes.
- Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of both external and internal staff to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Engage in regular case consultations and team meetings to discuss complex cases, refine treatment approaches, and share best practices.
- Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric treatment, medication management, and holistic wellness approaches through continuing education and professional development.
- Contribute to a culture of learning and excellence, seeking assistance from leaders as is beneficial and providing guidance to colleagues when appropriate.
- Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Promptly elevate patient issues and individual concerns with management.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing or physician assistant studies from an accredited university or college.
- Active board certification through a national certifying body recognized by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or Board of Medical Examiners.
- Active license to practice as an APRN or Physician Assistant in South Carolina with prescriptive authority.
- Previous experience managing conditions within the psychiatric scope of practice preferred.
