As a Charge Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise daily nursing activities of staff and CNAs in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct and support CNAs and nursing personnel to ensure compliance with facility policies, proper care delivery, and adequate staffing on each shift.
- Manage admissions, transfers, and discharges; greet and orient new residents; ensure room readiness; coordinate transportation and notify families as needed.
- Maintain accurate records including nurses' notes, census reports, care plans, physician orders, medication records, and incident reports.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; verify resident identity, document accurately, and ensure proper narcotics handling.
- Consult with physicians on care plans and changes in condition; participate in rounds and ensure timely communication of orders and concerns.
- Review and update care plans daily; ensure all staff are informed and delivering care as outlined; involve residents in care planning.
- Provide direct nursing services including catheterization, wound care, feeding tubes, vital signs, rehab, restorative care, and end-of-life care.
- Maintain clean and safe environments; enforce safety protocols; participate in infection control programs and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Participate in state/federal inspections; maintain regulatory compliance in documentation, treatment, and resident rights.
- Meet with residents and families to address concerns; investigate complaints or allegations; maintain detailed records of follow‑up actions.
- Collaborate with dietary, therapy, and other departments to ensure cohesive resident care and adherence to dietary and therapeutic plans.
- Participate in and lead in‑service trainings, orientations, and continuing education on topics such as OSHA, infection control, and safety standards.
- Education & Licensure:
Nursing degree or approved RN program graduate with an active, unencumbered state RN license. - Experience:
At least one year of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting. - Clinical Knowledge:
Trained in rehabilitative and restorative nursing; familiar with current nursing practices and procedures. - Regulatory Awareness:
Knowledgeable of long‑term care laws, regulations, and guidelines. - Communication
Skills:
Able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively. - Leadership & Interpersonal
Skills:
Capable of making independent decisions and leading staff with professionalism and tact.
