Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of the building and grounds, as well as the installation, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on production machines, equipment, and facilities. This role may also involve maintaining inventory of maintenance parts and supplies and interacting with suppliers and internal departments. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, manages time effectively, works independently, and follows all safety and conduct standards.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesIndividuals in this role are expected to have developed a skilled trade and the ability to work independently while performing standard maintenance and repairs. Duties may vary by facility and operational needs and include, but are not limited to:
- Perform general maintenance on buildings and machinery, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and preventative maintenance on production equipment and forklifts
- Complete minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician (e.g., replacing light bulbs and fuses); assist with minor carpentry and repair work
- Assist with servicing and replacing minor plumbing fixtures
- Maintain machinery, equipment, and tools through cleaning, lubricating, greasing, and oiling
- Assist production staff in diagnosing machinery and equipment malfunctions
- Apply paint, varnish, or stain to surfaces for protection and appearance
- Set up, remove, and store production molds according to documented procedures
- Bench test, clean, rebuild, inspect, and maintain fill guns and ejectors
- Collect, test, and report water samples for hardness, pH, and other measurements
- Complete required job specifications, task lists, and documentation
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, and wear required PPE
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work assigned shifts, including overtime and after-hours meetings as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of three (3) years of related maintenance experience
- Associate degree or technical certificate preferred
Additional Experience
- Experience maintaining low-pressure boilers, air compressors, air dryers, and vacuum pumps
- Forklift maintenance experience
- Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Physical Demands
- Frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, crouch, and twist
- Ability to work in confined or awkward positions around equipment
- Close vision required
