Job OverviewUnder the direction of the Logistics Supervisor or Department Supervisor the Material Handler maintains distribution of materials between the production floor and inventory; loads and unloads; delivers production materials and supplies to the production floor; stages finished product in designated inventory location; performs general housekeeping in accordance with Pregis policies and procedures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Safely drive a forklift to stage material, load trucks, unload trucks, and transfer material within the plant and between departments as needed.
- Keep safety at the forefront of the team’s thinking and approach to work.
- Communicate and ensure all safety procedures are strictly adhered to.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, well‑organized, FIFO (first in, first out) controlled warehouse per Pregis best practice.
- Maintain inventory by identifying and placing materials and supplies in stock; record location of inventory.
- Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, and securing product in the correct location.
- Be a reliable member of the team, always identifying and professionally communicating ways to improve the work environment.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Other responsibilities as directed or required.
- Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others.
- Promote a positive teamwork culture.
- Effectively and respectfully communicate with team and during shift transition.
- Knowledgeable of safety requirements and guidelines in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.
- 1+ years of sit‑down forklift experience.
- 1+ years of inventory control experience.
- Experience with Inventory Control/Warehouse Management software (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Exposure to moving equipment.
- Humidity may exceed 80%.
- Personal Protective Equipment required.
- Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling.
