About the Role

Hampshire is recruiting Children's Residential Support Workers to join Hampshire County Council's residential home in Andover.

You'll be part of a supportive and diverse team providing a structured, caring environment for young people who may display challenging behaviour and struggle with relationships.

Your role is to act as a 'therapeutic parent', building positive, trusting relationships to help young people feel safe and cared for. This requires patience, empathy, and consistency, even in difficult situations.

What You'll Do

Support children through positive behaviour management strategies
Engage in activities such as cooking, cleaning, messy play, leisure activities
Assist with personal hygiene
Use physical intervention when necessary (training provided)
Required

Skills & Qualifications

✔ Experience working with children, young people, or adults in residential/secure settings (advantageous but not essential)
✔ Passion for supporting young people with traumatic backgrounds
✔ Ability to manage challenging behaviour while maintaining positive relationships
✔ Physically fit to complete mandatory training
✔ Understanding of safeguarding
✔ UK Driving Licence

Desirable

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within 2 years)
Knowledge of child protection
Functional Skills Level 2 (GCSE Grade C/4 in English & Maths)
