Senior Ecologist
Location: Andover (hybrid working available)
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, full-time

Our client, a respected and expanding ecological consultancy, is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their Andover-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ecologist looking to take the next step in their career, with real responsibility, autonomy, and progression prospects.
The RoleAs a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in delivering projects from start to finish, supporting junior staff, and maintaining high technical standards across a diverse portfolio of work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and undertaking a range of habitat and protected species surveys
- Producing and reviewing high-quality ecological reports (PEAs, PRAs, EcIAs, HRAs where relevant)
- Providing technical advice to clients and project teams
- Managing projects, including timelines and budgets
- Mentoring and supporting junior ecologists
- Assisting with mitigation design, licensing, and implementation
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Ecology or a related field
- Several years’ experience in ecological consultancy
- Strong report‑writing and project management skills
- Good working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
- Membership of CIEEM (or eligibility)
- Protected species licences (or demonstrable experience working towards them)
- A full UK driving licence
