Job DutiesThe Instructional Design & Accessibility Specialist supports the Educational Technology team with accessibility compliance and the Instructional Designer with creating engaging and effective online courses in Butler’s Learning Management System (LMS). This role requires experience with instructional design principles and commonly used tools, knowledge of Universal Design Language, accessibility, and best practices in online teaching and learning. This role also assists with troubleshooting, training, quality assurance, and contributes to innovative projects that enhance online and technology‑enabled learning.
This position requires a candidate with strong expertise in Canvas (or a similar LMS), experience in project management, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a self‑starter mindset.

Required knowledge and skills:
- A high degree of organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
- Thorough knowledge of educational technology.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent in‑person and online teaching/training skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of web and media‑based technologies.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and practices.
- Ability to explain technical concepts and procedures to non‑technical users.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional project management skills and follow through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Required experience:
- Must have at least one year of experience in using technology in education, including instructional design.
- Prior experience in training/teaching adults.
- Prior experience working in a fast‑paced customer service environment.
- Experience working with diverse learners.
- Strong interest in pedagogy and online learning is preferred.
- Experience with multimedia software is preferred.
