Compensation:
Unlicensed Protection Specialist: $24.86 hourly. Licensed Protection Specialist: $26.17 hourly. Salary may be dependent upon the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Receives assigned reports when vulnerable adults are suspected of being abused, neglected, and or exploited as defined in K.S.A. 39-1430 and establishes contact with the involved adult within the assigned timeframe. Makes timely collaborative contacts with law enforcement, medical staff, mental health, and other service providers to assess adult safety per PPS regulation/policy.
Conducts assessments of alleged abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation, completes and prepares a written assessment within the established timelines. Makes referrals to law enforcement and the court as appropriated, Office of Attorney General, Kansas Guardianship Program, Area Agencies of Aging, and other community providers. Provides needed protective services to prevent maltreatment of a vulnerable adult.

Qualifications
Education:
* If a degree is required, a transcript showing proof of graduation or degree obtained is required to be uploaded with your application. Transcript copies are required with application if a degree is listed as a minimum qualification
* Four-year degree in a Human Services or Behavioral Sciences field of study, or education determined relevant by the agency.
Minimum Qualifications:
* If a driver's license is required, a copy must be uploaded with your application.
* Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
One or more of the following:
Licensed Social Worker, Master's in Professional Counseling (Licensed Professional Counselor), Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), Licensed Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) professional as determined relevant by the agency, a minimum of 2-years of work experience in Children and Family Services.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
* Security Clearance: A background check (KBI - criminal background, welfare fraud, driver's license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF. Must maintain security clearance throughout employment.
* Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas. Applicants (including non-residents) who receive a formal job offer for a State job, are required to obtain a valid Tax Clearance within ten (10) days of the job offer. A Tax Clearance can be obtained through the Kansas Department of Revenue who reviews individual accounts for compliance with Kansas Tax Law.
