Position Summary
Novogradac & Company LLP is searching for a Tax Manager to join our fast‑growing firm. The Tax Manager will manage tax assignments as designated by the Principal or Partner. The Manager should function with minimal supervision, with a strong focus on supervising and mentoring Staff and Senior Accountants, independent problem solving, strengthening and developing client relationships, and increasing office profitability. Some positions may be open to remote or hybrid work arrangements depending on business needs.
Responsibilities- Assume primary responsibility for client engagements, including planning, staffing, timing, technical issues and other decisions; oversee completion of engagements, identify and solve problem areas during the engagement with minimal oversight.
- Conduct thorough engagement reviews.
- Supervise and mentor Supervisors, Senior Accountants and Staff, providing guidance, education in technical areas and professional development opportunities.
- Complete annual performance evaluations for assigned staff and manage employee performance conversations.
- Assist Principals and Partners with identifying, meeting, and pursuing new clients.
- Turn acquired technical knowledge into high‑value‑added opportunities for firm clients.
- Promote the firm’s image by participating on conference panels, contributing to firm publications, attending recruiting events, conducting in‑house and client trainings, etc.
- Foster collegial relationships with all Partners, employees, clients and prospects to enhance the Novogradac brand.
- Develop, strengthen and grow client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness and a service‑oriented approach.
- Enhance industry skills by seeking out and completing training courses.
- Increase office profitability by managing your time and that of Staff and Senior Accountants efficiently, contributing ideas and adding value.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance (advanced degree is a plus), and 3‑7+ years of experience in public accounting and/or an appropriate balance of education and work experience.
- CPA license required.
- Expert understanding of accounting and tax rules.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and strong personal, technical and professional judgment.
- Accurate, time‑efficient work with strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and follow‑through skills.
- Ability to prioritize a fast‑paced and varied workload and manage concurrent priorities.
- Openness to constructive feedback from the Partner group and ability to adjust accordingly.
- Team‑oriented collaboration skills.
- Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and report‑writing tools.
- Professional demeanor with coworkers and clients.
- Ability to gain trust of the existing Partner group.
- Ability to meet internal firm deadlines (time entry, billing, etc.).
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and domestic travel as required.
Experience with Affordable Housing, Low‑Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), Opportunity Zones (OZ), Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETC), Historical Tax Credits (HTC), HUD, New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC), real estate, developers, partnerships, housing authorities, nonprofit, single audit, uniform guidance, A‑133, forecasting, cost segregation, year‑15 exit, tax‑exempt bond and HOME programs is helpful but not mandatory.

Base salary range: $126,000 to $155,000 depending on experience. Total compensation can increase based on experience and performance.
