Reporting to the CTE Coordinator, the Vocational Teacher’s role is to help students learn career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Teaches district-approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance with organizational standards.
- Keeps records and prepares progress reports electronically.
- Possesses proficient computer skills.
- Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques.
- Participates in professional development and remains current in the field.
- Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught.
Three (3) years of full-time employment directly related to Landscape Construction and joining technologies.
Certificates and LicensesCh. 74 licensure in Landscape Construction and joining technologies is required, or the ability to acquire a Chapter 74 license.
Must possess a current MA pesticide applicator license.
Ability, Knowledge and SkillsA Master’s degree may substitute for one of the three years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand
2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Horticulture, and/or in vocational education.

Work Environment- Frequent standing, speaking or hearing; walking; occasional lifting or moving up to 10 pounds of school supplies or books.
- Requires close vision to read handwritten or typed material and adjust focus; must meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and staff.
- Moderate to loud noise level.

Salary: $65,843 to $114,150 Per Year
Job Requirements- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
