Reporting to the Career Technical Education Coordinator, the Vocational Teacher’s role is to help students learn career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Teaches district approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance of organizational standards.
- Keeps records and prepares progress reports.
- Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques.
- Participates in professional development and remains current in the field.
- Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
Supervises students and oversees paraprofessionals for instructional purposes.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEA high school diploma is required; a college degree and prior teaching experience, preferably in a vocational high school setting or any combination of education and work experience, is preferred. Five years of recent (within the last seven years) of full‑time employment experience directly related to the vocational teaching area is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid Massachusetts Chapter 74 Teaching License in Machine Tool Technology (9‑14) is required.
A state‑issued driver’s license is required.

Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $65,843 to $114,150 Per Year
