Job DescriptionReporting to the CTE Coordinator, the Electrical Vocational Teacher’s role is to help students learn career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible young adults.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Teaches district-approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance with organizational standards.
- Keeps records and prepares progress reports electronically.
- Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques.
- Participates in professional development and remains current in the field.
- Proficient basic computer skills.
- Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
Supervises the classroom, students, and teaching assistants.
Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Five years of full-time employment directly related to the Electrical area & joining technologies.
Certificates and LicensesCh. 74 licensure in the Electrical area & joining technologies is required or the ability to acquire the licensure.
Possession of a current MA Journeyman and MA Master Electrician license.
Ability, Knowledge and SkillsKnowledge of voltage systems.
An associate degree may substitute for one of five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to one or more strands of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in the career area & joining technologies*, and/or in education.
A bachelor’s degree may substitute for two of five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand
2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in the career area & joining technologies*, and/or in vocational education.

Work Environment- The employee is frequently required to stand, talk or hear and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds such as school supplies and books.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
