Anticipated Educational Team Facilitator (26/27 SY) Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Student Services Director and in consultation with the building principal, assistant principal, and program head, the Educational Team Facilitator is responsible for facilitating IEP Team meetings at the assigned school and assisting in providing quality programming for children with diverse special needs.
Responsibilities- Act as LEA Representative at Evaluation Team and Individual Education Program (IEP) team meetings.
- Schedule meetings and provide written notice to assure compliance with special education regulations.
- Record meeting minutes and complete all relevant special education paperwork at Evaluation Team and IEP meetings.
- Chair Evaluation Team meetings and lead the team in all relevant eligibility and evaluation decisions.
- Chair IEP meetings, lead the team in all relevant educational decisions, and check IEPs for compliance.
- Assure that any student receiving or entitled to receive special education instruction under IDEA receives a full and comprehensive evaluation.
- Ensure the involvement of parents in the special education process and provide basic explanations of parental rights and procedural safeguards and responsibilities under IDEA.
- Interpret special education eligibility reports from a variety of service providers and out‑of‑district evaluators.
- Ensure that the Evaluation Team follows procedural safeguards at all stages of the special education process.
- Facilitate transition planning between levels and for students entering and returning from out‑of‑district placements; participate in facilitation of students transitioning into and out of the assigned school.
- Attend district and school site special education team meetings.
- Maintain student records and protect their confidentiality.
- Coordinate transition planning activities and transition assessments for students with IEPs.
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Student Services, Principal, or Program Head.
- Teacher certification in at least one of the following areas:
Teacher of Children with Moderate Special Needs, Teacher of Children with Severe Special Needs, School Adjustment Counselor, School Psychologist, and/or Teacher of Children with Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders. - Extensive experience working with special needs students.
- Extensive knowledge of the IEP process and demonstrated knowledge of state and federal special education laws, regulations, and eligibility criteria, and willingness to implement the special education process.
- Knowledge of district‑wide continuum of services.
- Experience and expertise in curriculum adaptation.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Highly organized in managing and ensuring compliance with IEP timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to mediate and/or facilitate difficult issues with tact, diplomacy, and empathy.
- Experience in managing Special Education evaluations, or at least extensive participation as a member of a Special Education Evaluation Team.
- Computer literacy including basic familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel; must be able to collect, analyze, report, disseminate, and manage data.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
