Reporting to the CTE Coordinator, the Aviation Instructor will help students learn aviation career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible young adults.
Essential Functions- Teaches district-approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom/career area environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance of organizational standards.
- Keeps records and prepares progress reports.
- Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques.
- Participates in professional development and remains current in the field.
- Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
Supervises the classroom, students, and teaching assistants.
Education and ExperienceCh. 74 licensure in the area of Aviation is required.
Five years of full-time employment directly related to Aviation.
An associate degree may substitute for one of five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to one or more strands of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Aviation
* and/or in education.
A bachelor’s degree may substitute for two of the five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand
2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Aviation

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; for example, school supplies and books.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
