Adjunct Instructor – Physics

Position Description

The Department of Math and Physics invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach General Physics 1 this upcoming Fall semester 2026. The course runs from August 31 to December 18, 2026. Duties include delivering lectures in a classroom setting, administering exams, and grading students’ assignments.

PHY
2201 – General Physics 1:
First semester of a one-year introduction to physics, without calculus. Topics include vectors, kinematics, Newton’s laws of motion, work and energy, momentum, torque, statics, and circular and rotational motion.

• Hold at least a M.S. in Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• College-level teaching experience and experience utilizing learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and technology in the classroom is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated commitment to Merrimack College’s Catholic and Augustinian mission by fostering a culture that supports these values.

Minimum: $5,000 per 4-credit course. The actual pay offered will be determined based on candidate qualifications, prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
