Salary: $65,843 to $114,150 Per Year

Reporting to the CTE Coordinator, the Early Education & Care Teacher’s role is to help students learn career area subject matter in accordance with Chapter 74 educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaches district-approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance of organizational standards.
  • Keeps records and prepares progress reports.
  • Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques.
  • Participates in professional development and remains current in the field.
  • Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
:
Supervises the classroom and students.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
: A Bachelor’s Degree or higher is required; prior teaching experience, preferably in a vocational high school setting, is preferred. Three years of recent (within the last seven years) full-time employment experience directly related to the Early Education & Care field is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
:
Valid Massachusetts Chapter 74 Teaching License in vocational education, SEI Endorsement, and a state-issued driver’s license are required.

SKILLS AND ABILITY
  • Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively prepare lesson plans in accordance with district curriculum and the state Curriculum Frameworks. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, teachers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to apply knowledge of clinical skills and theory to the instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; ability to work effectively with all staff at all levels of the school district;

    skills in oral and written communication is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; for example, building materials, school supplies, and books.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
  • Must be able to work in fluctuating weather conditions.
Job Requirements
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
