Reporting to the Superintendent, the Workforce Development Program Facilitator will provide guidance to the Workforce Development Coordinator, advance the GLTS clean energy related initiatives, and support the Superintendent as requested.

The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.

• Provide orientation to the Workforce Development Coordinator on all aspects of leading the workforce development staff, and managing department operations.
• Collaborate with the Workforce Development Coordinator to plan new departmental initiatives and seek funding to support Superintendent-approved ideas.
• Lead in workforce development grant proposal preparation until the Coordinator is comfortable in doing so independently.
• Provide oversight for the GLTS grants, which are aimed at creating the learning environment, appropriate curricula, and new graduate employment opportunities so GLTS remains the state vocational leader in preparing students and adults for the growing clean energy economy. Work with GLTS leaders to ensure continuation of these initiatives once funding is used. Grants include:
  • The MVRF grant that supports the clean energy career readiness unit, seven CTE area curriculum development, and the wage reimbursement program.
  • The MassCEC two equipment grants, which includes
    • Completing the passive house and ensuring it’s used as a clean energy learning center
    • Purchasing CTE equipment needed to teach clean energy concepts and skills, and ensuring instructors have the training to incorporate new curriculum and equipment into their teaching.
  • The 2 MassCEC workforce development grants to teach adults to work in electrical / solar, and in facilities maintenance / building operations.
• Other projects as requested by the Superintendent.

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred. A minimum of ten years’ workforce development program management required. Experience in a vocational technical training institution required. Leadership experience preferred.

Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills are a must. Demonstrated expertise in successfully planning and managing multiple projects. Record of accomplishment and leadership in developing strong partnerships with the business community and foundations. An understanding of current educational issues, a desire to learn more, and the ability to generate creative ideas and solutions. Must have working knowledge of Google docs;

must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to work a flexible schedule. Bilingual Spanish / English preferred.

This is an hourly position that can be worked remotely or teen hours a week on average, with additional hours as approved by the Superintendent. Position is grant funded.

Minimal to light physical effort is generally required in performing duties in an office environment. This position may require the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed and for lengthy periods of time.
