The Pike School seeks a Private Music Instructor to provide individualized and small-group lessons to students in grades Pre-K-9. The instructor will design engaging, student-centered lessons that foster strong technique, musical literacy, and a joy for music-making. Responsibilities include assessing progress, preparing students for performances, and communicating regularly with families. The instructor will collaborate with faculty, embrace Pike's warm, inclusive culture, and contribute to a mission-driven, child-centered community committed to curiosity, character, and equity.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group music instruction to Pike School students across grade levels.
- Develop and implement engaging, student-centered lesson plans aligned with varied skill levels and musical interests.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide clear, constructive feedback to students and families.
- Prepare students for recitals, performances, and informal sharings that build confidence and musicality.
- Collaborate with faculty and arts staff to integrate music into broader school experiences and community events.
- Maintain accurate schedules, attendance, and communication with families and school staff.
- Foster an inclusive, encouraging studio environment that reflects Pike's values of respect, curiosity, and kindness.
- Select appropriate repertoire and instructional materials that support diverse learners and backgrounds.
- Incorporate basic music theory, ear training, and technique into instruction.
- Participate in relevant school meetings, professional development, and community-building activities.
