Aboutthe Role
As a Microgrid System Test Engineer, you will validate real‑world microgrid scenarios end‑to‑end across EMS, PMS, DERs (batteries, PV, gensets) and grid interfaces. Working in our state‑of‑the‑art Microgrid Lab, you will test control algorithms, system behavior, and customer use cases to deliver safe, robust, and high‑quality solutions.
What You Will DoSystem & Scenario Testing
- Test and validate end‑user scenarios of Schneider Electric’s Microgrid solutions across EMS/EMA and PMS/EMO platforms using real devices, simulators including OPAL RT or Speed Goat.
- Work closely with Global R&D to analyze issues, reproduce behaviors, and ensure high‑quality releases.
- Perform functional, performance, interoperability, and regression testing of microgrid systems.
Test Planning & Automation
- Develop detailed test plans and test cases based on product requirements.
- Automate test scenarios using the Microgrid Lab (PLC/IPC controllers, HIL systems, DER emulators).
- Maintain test‑automation scripts and contribute to continuous improvement of test frameworks.
Lab Operations
- Configure and operate microgrid test benches: PLCs, inverters, BESS simulators, protection devices, SCADA/HMI, communication networks.
- Support internal and customer lab visits, demonstrations, and technical workshops.
Partner & Project Support
- Train and support Schneider Electric partners delivering Configure‑To‑Order (CTO) microgrids.
- Participate in pilots, commissioning support actions, and advanced troubleshooting when needed.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Global R&D teams
- Execution & commissioning teams
- Tendering & solution architecture teams
- Strategic technology partners
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Energy Systems, or related field.
Technical Skills
- Experience in industrial automation (Schneider Electric PLCs, IPCs) and control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills.
- Familiarity with communication protocols (Modbus, HTTPS, MQTT, IEC 61850; DNP 3 is a plus).
- Experience with 3‑phase electrical systems and/or site commissioning.
- Understanding of microgrid concepts (BESS, PV, generators, islanding, grid‑forming vs grid‑following).
- Experience using real‑time simulators like Speed Goat or OPAL RT.
- Hands‑on experience with scripting / object‑oriented programming.
- Python proficiency is a strong plus.
- LabVIEW or National Instruments experience is a plus.
Test & Lab Skills
- Exposure to automated testing or test scripting.
- Experience with testing 3‑phase electrical installations.
