Job Overview
Electrical Engineer II – Failure Analysis in the Electrical Analysis – Northeast section of the Materials & Process Engineering Department ite position in Andover, MA.
Required:
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance. The position is active and must have a clearance after day one.
- Perform electrical component evaluations and root‐cause failure analysis.
- Document and analyze each step of the investigation, including external visual documentation, electrical testing, non‑destructive troubleshooting, environmental testing, X‑ray evaluation, destructive testing, decapsulation, cross‑sections, internal visual documentation, and SEM evaluation.
- Operate laboratory equipment such as microscopes, oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, LCR analyzers, curve tracers, semiconductor parameter analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, frequency generators, signal generators, power meters, hi‑pot testers, megohmmeters, laser millers, plasma etchers, chemical jet etchers, bond pullers, and related equipment.
- Write detailed final reports and, if necessary, present data and findings.
- Manage multiple analyses concurrently and collaborate with engineers in materials, chemistry, and other disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience operating electrical test equipment.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and performing circuit analysis.
- Familiarity with component data sheets, drawings, and materials such as metal wire bonding, substrates, solder, adhesives, and encapsulants.
- Strong data collection, presentation, and report writing skills.
- Technical knowledge of electrical components and their applications.
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Knowledge of digital processing, RF analysis, die‑level analysis, and complex microcircuits.
