Job OverviewRaytheon is seeking an early career Hardware Test Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test Department. The role focuses on comprehensive test support during development and production phases of weapon system programs, ranging from preliminary concepts to fielded system support.
Responsibilities- Perform instrumentation planning and conduct all hardware tests, including vibration, mechanical shock, temperature, altitude, humidity, and structural testing.
- Acquire and analyze dynamic and thermal data.
- Coordinate test fixture design.
- Work independently and take ownership of program/project to achieve schedule, financial, and technical goals.
- Prepare test plans, schedules, reports, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with design engineering, structural analysis, manufacturing engineering, and commercial customers.
- Provide technical expertise to programs as needed.
- Provide factory and supplier testing support domestically and internationally.
- Travel to test sites and facilities to support testing or design discussions.
- Willingness to travel domestically to Raytheon sites, suppliers, and government facilities.
- Bachelor of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; an advanced degree may substitute for additional experience.
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance after day 1.
- Hands‑on mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a lab environment.
- Experience in hardware and environmental testing (dynamic shock/vibration, climatic, structural).
- Experience with signal processing, data acquisition, field test instrumentation, or structural testing.
- Proficiency with solid modeling CAD tools such as Creo or equivalent.
- Proficiency with MATLAB.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience presenting to external customers.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
- Travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities.
Salary range: $68,900 – $131,100 USD. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Eligibility for annual incentive compensation programs may apply.
