Energy Plant Operator

Overview

CEP OPERATOR responsible for the efficient operation of equipment in the Central Energy Plant. The operator ensures safe, efficient, and effective operation of machinery and systems, achieving 100% uptime and protecting client assets while following all applicable codes, laws, and regulations.

• Understand and comply with all Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) programs and procedures.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain high‑pressure steam and hot water boilers to ensure full compliance with manufacturer recommendations and applicable permits/regulations.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain site steam turbine centrifugal chillers and related functional equipment for reliability, efficiency and compliance.
• Operate and troubleshoot the Cogen Plant, which includes two turbines generating electricity and steam.
• Monitor water and perform testing, treatment and associated chemical usage for the boilers, ensuring compliance with the site water safety management plan.
• Operate the control room for immediate response and corrective action to alarm conditions on a 24‑hour/7‑day basis (backup support available).
• Monitor building automation systems and utilities monitoring systems to ensure proper operation of the boiler and chiller plants as well as air‑handling equipment.
• Document and record all activity accurately as required.
• Monitor fuel storage systems and maintain usage logs and reports for various utilities in compliance with all applicable permits and regulations.
• Review, understand, and follow site operations procedures for equipment.
• Write reports documenting incidents and equipment failures.
• Record building rounds and readings, and update engineering logs and engineering data sheets as needed.
• Respond and provide service and feedback to the CEP Chief Engineer in compliance with codes, regulations and industry standards.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Interact professionally and efficiently with other members of the operations team on a routine basis.
• Reading and understanding repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
• Monitor subcontractor activities.
• Assist craft technicians in other facility maintenance trades and services as necessary.
• Serve as point of contact for management when designated by CEP Chief Engineer for periods of six (6) days or less (Senior Operator/Operator

  Licensed operator (3rd Class engineer) with less than a 2nd Class Engineer’s license; making progress toward a 2nd Class Engineer’s License on a mutually agreed schedule.
• Operator
  
  A:
  Licensed engineer with fewer than 10 years of prior experience in a plant similar to the Pfizer plant, and who does not hold a 2nd Class Engineer’s License.
• Senior Operator:
  Licensed engineer with 10 or more years of prior experience in a plant similar to the Pfizer plant, and who holds at least a 2nd Class Engineer’s License.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in energy‑plant related systems.
• Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.

3‑4‑3 schedule with work hours from 4:00am to 4:00pm.

$81,993.00 – $USD per year (range is an estimate; final compensation determined by various factors).
