About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Engineer specializing in High-Reliability (Hi-Rel) Power Electronics
. In this role, you will serve as the crucial technical bridge between our R&D engineering team and our clients operating in mission-critical sectors (Space, Aerospace, Defense, Medical).
You will be responsible for helping customers integrate our cutting-edge power conversion technologies into environments where failure is not an option. If you thrive on solving complex electrical engineering challenges, optimizing thermal management, and working with wide-bandgap semiconductors, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Technical Support: Act as the primary technical point of contact for tier-1 customers, assisting them with component selection, circuit design, and system integration.
- Design-In Support: Create reference designs, evaluation boards, application notes, and simulation models (using SPICE, PLECS, or MATLAB/Simulink) to accelerate customer adoption.
- Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting: Lead root-cause analysis investigations for field failures or qualification anomalies, leveraging standard laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal cameras).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Management and R&D to feed customer requirements, market trends, and feature requests back into our next-generation product roadmap.
- Testing & Validation: Conduct hands‑on electrical and thermal characterization of power modules and discrete components under extreme high-reliability conditions.
Required
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related field required. Master’s (MSEE) or Ph.D. preferred.
- Experience: 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in power electronics design, test, or application engineering.
- Topology Expertise: Deep understanding of switch‑mode power supply (SMPS) topologies (DC‑DC, resonant converters, buck/boost, flyback, forward, and bridge configurations).
- Hi-Rel Standards: Familiarity with high‑reliability standards and harsh environment testing protocols (e.g., MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461, DO‑160, ESCC, or automotive AEC‑Q101/Q200).
- Components: Strong knowledge of power semiconductors (MOSFETs) and a distinct advantage if experienced with Wide Bandgap (WBG) materials like Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN).
- Tools: Proficiency with PCB layout tools (Altium Designer preferred) and simulation software (LTspice, or PSpice).
- Thermal Management: Understanding of heat dissipation, thermal interface materials, and cooling techniques in constrained spaces.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex engineering concepts clearly to both highly technical clients and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Exceptional problem‑solving mindset with a methodical approach to debugging.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and performance‑based bonuses.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) matching and retirement planning.
- Opportunities for continuous professional development and exposure to bleeding‑edge aerospace/defense tech.
- A collaborative, innovative work environment with good work‑life balance
