Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineering Section Manager will lead the 2nd and 3rd shift engineering teams for Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) at RTX’s Andover, MA facility. This 2nd Shift position includes an 8% shift differential. The role reports directly to the Front End Section Manager and is responsible for process development, sustainment, and improvement, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety in front‑end manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities- Lead the Off‑Shift Engineering team to address production issues, resolve complex challenges, and drive process optimization, cost reduction, and cycle time improvement.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development discussions for team members.
- Translate engineering design requirements into actionable manufacturing solutions, including detailed process documentation and best practices for junior engineers.
- Collaborate with Operations, Design, Test, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure seamless communication and integration of design requirements.
- Lead and coach corrective action investigations, disposition hardware discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, contributing to process improvement initiatives and specialized tooling development (e.g., jigs, fixtures, packaging).
- Maintain and advance the technology roadmap for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) operations.
- Coordinate across disciplines and suppliers to uphold best practices in quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in electronics manufacturing processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Engineering, Computer Science, or related field).
- Proficiency with circuit card assembly industry standards (e.g., J‑STD‑001, IPC‑A‑610).
- Experience in leadership or managing engineering teams.
- Knowledge of surface‑mount technology, lean manufacturing principles, and quality systems.
- Experience with MRP systems (e.g., SAP), earned value systems, shop floor management, and cost estimation.
- Strong analytical, technical problem‑solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (DoD Confidential). U.S. citizenship required.
