Position Overview
Senior Operations Quality Engineer – 2nd shift (shift differential of 8% above base pay). No travel required.
Responsibilities- Baseline factory metrics (scrap, rework, FPY, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand and identify areas of opportunity for improvement.
- Engage and support shop floor personnel and manufacturing defect prevention teams to ensure alignment on top priorities using baseline data and future forecast.
- Use tools to drive and facilitate compliance resolution, containment, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Implementation within closed‑loop process controls.
- Perform process walks, operator observations, and lead manufacturing team discussions to drive process enhancements to reduce variation.
- Lead / drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control plans, SPC, etc.) using baseline metrics and future demand; perform verification/validation of improvements and efficiencies to facilitate defect prevention.
- Integrate product and process verifications such as First Articles and audits throughout the value stream to prevent quality escapes, optimize throughput and assure on‑time delivery of products and services.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience working within electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, system engineering, manufacturing/industrial engineering or supplier engineering.
- Experience in first‑article inspection reports (FAIRs) and/or quality monitoring in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience in development/usage of quality metrics or Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.
- Experience in manufacturing process with quality systems and/or industry technical standards (e.g. ISO
9001, AS9100 and/or AS9102). - Experience interpreting drawings, work instructions, and/or customer specifications.
- Strong familiarity with J‑STD‑001, ISO
9001, AS9100, AS9201, Six Sigma, Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) or Lean experience and associated tools. - Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)/AS9145 using tools such as PPAP, Key Characteristics, DFMEA, PFMEA and/or Control Plans.
- Experience with SAP/PRISM or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Tool.
- Previous experience with circuit card assembly processes.
- ASQ Certifications.
- Ability to facilitate cross‑functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. Six‑sigma, lean manufacturing).
U.S. citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance is required. A security clearance must be active and existing after day
1.
