We are Raytheon Technologies, a leader in defense and aerospace solutions. An exciting mandate exists for an Engineering Manager to spearhead our Layout and Foundry Services team within the RF Microelectronics / Module Design & Foundry Services Department.
The Senior Section Lead – Layout, CAD, Foundry Services will lead a team of layout and CAD engineers that support Raytheon’s RFIC/MMIC designers. Responsibilities include generating fully compliant and verified layouts and photomasks that feed our in‑house III‑V semiconductor foundry, streamlining design flow, and ensuring production readiness.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in RFIC/MMIC layout, verification, and automation using the Cadence suite, and in the preparation of photomasks for III‑V foundry equipment. Knowledge of III‑V processing, RF device characterization, and automated inspection is expected.
The successful candidate will also lead the team, mentor staff, and play a key role in propelling design‑flow efficiencies, tool development, and process transition to production, while fostering employee growth. The section lead will manage up to 20 engineers.
This role is 100% on‑site and based in Andover, MA.
What You Will Do- Lead the Foundry Layout/CAD team to enable MMIC/RFIC design through layout creation in Cadence Virtuoso.
- Maintain and improve layout data management, DRC, LVS, documentation, and automation to support a rapid design flow.
- Ensure the highest standards for layout data preparation, reticle building, and photomask procurement.
- Perform data checks, documentation, peer reviews, and communicate efficiently with design, production, and process teams.
- Manage and develop the team, supporting management at department, directorate, and functional levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
- At least ten (10) years of relevant semiconductor MMIC layout and CAD experience.
- U.S. citizenship required; active DoD Secret clearance required.
- Proficiency with Cadence CAD tools.
- Experience with integrated‑circuit layout and physical verification.
- Experience in automating layout tasks and developing associated software.
- Familiarity with semiconductor processing and manufacturing concepts such as GaAs, GaN, SOI.
- Project scheduling and management experience.
- Previous experience with a defense contractor and/or government agency.
- Current DoD Secret level security clearance considered an advantage.
Salary range: 132,400 USD – 251,600 USD.
