OverviewRTX, the world’s largest aerospace and defense company, seeks an Electrical Engineer with strong academic background and experience in RF and microwave design. The role focuses on design and testing of microwave components, cards, and phased array systems, providing technical support to production activities. Team leadership, cost and schedule management, and proposal writing are desired.
Responsibilities- Design RF microwave components and phased array applications.
- Develop insights that extend knowledge in the RF/Microwave field and form the basis of new concepts, theories, and products.
- Design and/or test MMIC or module products and test fixtures at RF/microwave frequencies.
- Integrate and test component‑level and system‑level phased array hardware.
- Travel to integration sites, customer, and subcontractor facilities as required.
- Degree in STEM and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience in microwave/RF system, subsystem, and component analysis, design and test.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys and Mentor Graphics’s Xpedition; analytical tools such as MATLAB.
- Experience performing basic RF calculations and cascaded analysis.
- Background designing and testing analog CCAs, including frequency conversion, AGC, amplifier design, and analog filter design.
- Experience in electrical interconnects and transmission line design.
- Understanding of RF layout techniques from HF to X‑Band.
- Understanding of EMI analysis and mitigation techniques.
- Propensity for learning through self‑study and comfort in a multi‑tasking environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of requirement allocation from system to component level.
- Experience designing RF/Microwave MMIC circuits, modules, or test fixtures.
- Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices.
- Experience with integrated circuit layout and physical verification using Cadence Virtuoso tools.
- Familiarity with semiconductor processing and concepts (GaAs, GaN, SOI).
- Strong academic background in Microwave Engineering, Microwave Systems, Electromagnetic Theory, and Radar Systems.
- Hands‑on experience with microwave testing techniques (spectrum analyzers, RSAs, VNAs, PNAs).
- Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations.
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
- Salary range: 68,900 USD – 131,100 USD (good‑faith estimate).
