Position Summary
Facilities Engineer Manager – Mechanical (Manager, Facilities) located in Andover, MA. The role reports to the Sr. Manager Project Execution and involves supporting facilities mechanical design, HVAC, engineering, and construction project management.
Responsibilities- Complete engineering projects including mechanical building systems troubleshooting, support of building control systems, office renovations, laboratory fit‑ups, and manufacturing equipment installations.
- Support projects from design through the bid cycle, construction management, and project closeout.
- Estimate projects, schedule them, and design heating and cooling systems with heat load calculations and equipment sizing studies.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, structural, civil, IT, and security disciplines.
- Prepare diagrams, sketches, construction drawings, cost estimates, bid documents, and construction administration.
- Meet with internal customers and develop continuous improvement projects, coordination studies, and project management.
- Interface and coordinate projects with internal and external resources such as IT, safety, security, internal construction trade workers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Requires travel within eastern Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, with occasional opportunities to consult on projects outside New England and potentially internationally.
Qualifications – Required- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in building mechanical engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or related engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge of building mechanical systems including boilers, refrigeration, cooling skids, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, fan coil units, VAV, compressed air, nitrogen, and liquid nitrogen systems.
- Experience with construction project management, customer scoping meetings, budget monitoring, scheduling, contractor coordination, commissioning, and close‑out.
- Ability to write clear technical engineering specifications, reports, and operating procedures.
- U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain a DoD Confidential security clearance.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE, SMCNA, and state building codes.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project Scheduler.
- Familiarity with building electrical systems and general understanding of construction and civil works.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and control systems such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
