Job Summary

Sr. Process Development Engineer will join our III‑V process development team working on gallium nitride‑based devices and III‑V focal plane array fabrication within the Microelectronics / Module Design & Foundry Services Department. This role requires a broad understanding of microelectronics processing techniques such as deposition, etch, photolithography, metrology, and process characterization with expertise in one or more of these areas. The individual will support and execute process development efforts, assist in process sustainment, improve product yield, develop new processes and device capabilities, and create new technology discriminators in a III‑V semiconductor wafer foundry.

This role will be 100% on‑site and based in Andover, MA. Presence on the foundry floor is essential for improving processes and resolving technical issues quickly.

U.S. citizenship is required. The position requires an active Secret clearance; candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance.

What You Will Do
  • Process wafers to create FETs, MMICs, and FPAs in a cleanroom environment.
  • Work well in small, cross‑functional teams and support contract R&D and production transition.
  • May manage small projects or processes within the area of responsibility.
  • Work autonomously with limited oversight.
  • Provide input or guidance to lower‑level professionals.
  • Influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties, including customers and vendors.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 5 years of prior semiconductor processing experience (photolithography, dry etching, metal evaporation, optical or SEM inspections) OR a Master's in STEM with 3 years of experience OR a PhD in STEM.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Master’s or PhD in STEM.
  • Clear and concise documentation of process development status in team meetings.
  • Experience troubleshooting fabrication equipment and establishing qualification and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with statistical process control and lean manufacturing methods (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Experience related to semiconductor processing, device physics, and data analysis.
  • Experience using data analysis software (MATLAB, Python, SQL, JMP).
  • Ability to collaborate and lead cross‑functional technical projects.
  • Experience characterizing and improving semiconductor device performance and reliability.

  • Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD, based on experience.
