Raytheon’s System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures product safety by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing solutions to protect people, hardware, and the environment. Leveraging rigorous engineering principles, the team integrates safety into every phase of the system lifecycle, enhancing reliability and safeguarding our warfighters.
Responsibilities- Support execution of the safety strategy for the program to meet all milestones with system safety features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and funding.
- Support program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities in the program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
- Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact review, attending customer reviews, etc.
- Support multi‑IPT program meetings to ensure system safety items are considered and to understand current program‑wide issues.
- Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations.
- Analyze engineering software and/or firmware per MIL‑STD‑882E, JSSSEH, AOP‑52, and other relevant standards.
- Work with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code.
- Participate in the execution of the Software System Safety Program.
- Interface with various stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assist with preparations of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
- Assist with software safety technical reviews.
- Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design.
- Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with systems, software or test engineering.
- Experience performing MIL‑STD‑882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, including management, analysis, evaluation, and verification.
- Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.
- Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
- Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations.
- Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines.
- Experience interfacing with other engineering functions:
Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering. - Experience managing Working Groups.

Salary Range: $57,200 – $108,800 USD.
Security Clearance:
Must obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
