Co-op​/Intern – Chemical Engineering

Physical Sciences Inc., located just north of Boston in Andover, MA, seeks a rising junior or senior with chemistry laboratory experience for a Fall Co-op/Intern supporting our projects in materials research and engineering in areas such as advanced polymer production, chemical process development, and waste-upcycling technologies.

Process development efforts include materials synthesis and characterization, functional performance evaluation, and process design and scale up. Intern responsibilities include:

• Work closely with the PSI materials research team to prepare novel materials, characterize material properties (e.g. surface area, mechanical strength, chemical composition) and perform functional analysis.
• Iteratively refine material production methodologies to improve product performance.
• Perform design of experiments to identify key parameter space and execute on experimental matrix.
• Analyze laboratory data, attend team working groups, report results in an organized format, and recommend next steps.

The candidate fulfilling this position will work with recognized experts in the field to learn new laboratory techniques, test hypotheses, analyze data, and communicate findings in a variety of commercially relevant settings.

This position may be most beneficial for students pursuing degrees in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering.

Hourly Wage Range : $20-$35
