Position Description & Overview:

The Girard School of Business at Merrimack College has openings for Undergraduate courses for Managerial Finance and Introduction to Fintech for the Fall 2026 semester. Undergraduate courses:

* Managerial Finance (FIN
2500) Monday/Wednesday/Friday 11:30AM - 12:45PM - in person

* Fintech and Cryptocurrency (FIN
3344) Online Asynchronous

Courses start on August 31st and will run through December 18th 2026. The course is in-person, on-campus for all scheduled classes and all interested applicants must be able to deliver the course in this modality.

Course descriptions:

Managerial Finance (FIN
2500):
This course introduces the basics of finance. The goal is to provide a comfortable level of understanding of corporate finance and financial markets and securities for all business majors. The course will develop the financial skills and knowledge that will help them interact with the other functions of the firm to make good managerial decisions. The main topics included in the course are outlined under five main areas: (1) financial markets and institutions in a global environment;

(2) financial ratios, budgeting, a firm's pro forma financial statements, and cash flows determining firm value; (3) time value of money tools and concepts (compounding, discounting, annuities, and perpetuities); (4) relationship between risk and return; and (5) the basics of bond and stock valuation. This course is in-person, on-campus and all interested applicants must be able to deliver the course in this modality.

Fintech and Cryptocurrency (FIN
3344):
This course is designed to explore contemporary issues in finance and focuses on how innovation in technology is creating profound changes to the financial services industry. Financial technology (fintech) is revolutionary and is challenging long-held practices, systems, and processes in the financial industry, and even forcing us to rethink the underlying concept of money. Students will learn about these new technologies and trends that are creating opportunities for visionaries.

This course provides an introduction to the future of finance, including numerous fintech applications, cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, payment systems, alternative capital sources (such as angel financing, venture capital, crowdfunding, STO and ICO), artificial intelligence, and machine learning (robo-advising). Students are expected to develop a broad understanding of recent fintech development and its impact in the financial industry.

Students will also have hands-on and problem-solving experiences that can be useful in fintech applications and innovation. This course is fully online and asynchronous. Applicants should be comfortable creating and recording video content for use within the course.

Qualifications:

* Master's degree in business or related area, Ph.D. preferred. College teaching experience is preferred, although related work experience may be considered.

Compensation

Minimum: $5,000 per 4-credit course

Minimum: $3,750 per lab section

The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
