About Trans Medics

Trans Medics is transforming organ transplantation through the Organ Care System (OCS), a groundbreaking platform that preserves and evaluates donor organs outside the body. Our Lung Clinical Training and R&D team collaborates with leading institutions, including the University of Pennsylvania, to conduct controlled studies and advance ex vivo lung perfusion science.

Position Summary

The OCS Lung Training & R&D Intern will support controlled lung studies conducted in collaboration with Trans Medics and academic partners. This role provides hands-on exposure to clinical research operations, ex vivo lung perfusion, and translational science.

The intern will assist with research activities and support OCS lung training initiatives while gaining foundational knowledge of clinical study design and execution.

This internship is ideal for students pursuing pre-med, pharmacy, or other healthcare-related career paths.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Study Support

* Assist in conducting controlled OCS lung studies in collaboration with academic partners

* Support setup, monitoring, and documentation of ex vivo lung perfusion experiments

* Assist with data collection, organization, and preliminary analysis

* Maintain accurate research records in accordance with study protocols

Clinical Training Support

* Assist with OCS lung training sessions as needed

* Support preparation of training materials and documentation

* Observe clinical application discussions related to lung perfusion

Data & Reporting

* Support data tracking and organization

* Assist in preparing summaries or reports related to study findings

* Ensure compliance with research ethics and documentation standards

What You'll Learn

* Fundamentals of clinical and translational research

* Concepts of ex vivo lung perfusion

* How organ perfusion platforms can be used to evaluate therapeutic modalities

* Basic study design, research documentation, and compliance principles

* Collaboration between industry and academic medical centers

Qualifications

* High School Senior, College Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student

* Background in Pre-Med, Pharmacy, Biology, or related healthcare field

* Clinical research exposure preferred

* Understanding of basic research ethics and simple statistical concepts

* Strong organizational and documentation skills

* Ability to work in a team-oriented research environment

* Strong attention to detail and professionalism

Preferred

* Medical or clinical background

* Interest in transplant medicine or pulmonary research
